Energy efficiency is a more credible nuclear energy as it allows to operate scelte strategiche in modo più consapevole e calibrato alle esigenze effettive del nostro paese. Puntare sull’efficienza energetica è inoltre una strategia win – win: è più efficace ed è di gran lunga più conveniente. Queste le principali conclusioni di un’indagine condotta dagli Amici della Terra (scarica la presentazione), presentata oggi nel corso di un convegno a Roma. Dallo studio emerge dunque che ottenere riduzioni nei consumi energetici è prioritario per il rispetto degli impegni di riduzione dei gas serra richiesti dall’Europa al 2020.
L’Enea , in a recent assessment of the costs of cutting emissions in Italy in 2020, fact highlights a potential overall reduction of about 60 million tonnes of CO2 from energy efficiency in ' industry, in services, transportation, construction and production and transmission of electricity. Achieved through technological options which, inter alia, entail minimal cost or in most cases with net social benefits.
In relation to the potential energy savings in 2020 alone in the electricity sector, through energy efficiency could save 73 TWh of electricity, ie 21.6 per cent of the final gross consumption in Italy in 2008 (337.6 TWh).
A huge potential energy savings that matches the electrical output of about eight large nuclear power plants (1300 MW, size assumed by our government). While the potential savings achievable in the short term, with existing measures, amounts to 19 TWh (potential to 2012 with the system of white certificates).
Even in terms of incentives, is meaningful comparison - notes the study - between 320 million euro cost for the state due to the main mechanism for promoting energy efficiency, white certificates, with the benefits of € 1.2 billion obtained under the net annual savings for users.
The study also notes that while Italy is seriously lagging behind the European climate policy objectives (both with respect to Kyoto and national targets in relation to 2020) are emerging, however, some primates energy efficiency, which often does not know the country and, therefore, not appreciate in terms of policy and system.
It is, in general, the advantageous position that derives from the efficiency gains that followed the 1973 oil crisis, which has dwindled over time (there are no improvements in the level of final energy intensity since 1986. A wealth of knowledge, technologies and traditions of great value, on which you can also bet with conviction to enhance competitiveness in global markets for our goods and services.
